The rain stopped, thankfully, just in time for us to meet outside the Town Hall and head off towards the High Street.
Our walk covered Brentwood School and some of it’s more famous attendees. The memorial at Wilson’s Corner was next where we also saw the building where which had Brentwood’s first ever phone, which had the number 1.
Then it was on down the High Street, spotting interesting sights along the way, like the plaque outside Lloyds Bank, this one told us it was the site of the very first online cash machine installed in 1972.
We found the site of the first firestation and first police station too.
It was a chilly evening, but the walk and the talk kept us going and kept us warm.
Thank you to all who attended, the dogs too, and to Margaret for once again leading us.
